Over the last four years If Man Is Five has been amazing audiences with their electric stage performances and eclectic sound. Their story begins at a punk show where Brianna and Angela met several years ago. Intrigued by the one handed guitarist, Brianna decided to introduce herself. Now with Angela as front person and bassist and Brianna on guitar, and original drummer, Matt Sisson, filled the void. In the summer of 2002 the band wrote and recorded their debut album, Azraela. The seven song EP went on to receive rave reviews from a variety of sources. Highlighting their versatility in the appropriately named Acoustic, they showcased a number of songs that would appear on the group’s third release, Blood is the Ink, Hate is the Story. The critically acclaimed Blood, released in November of 2004, showed the band experimenting and blossoming as they never had before. Unlike its predecessors, Blood accentuated Angela and Brianna’s classical training and gaining them a reputation as an impressive DIY band. The band toured the East Coast and Canada, having the privilege of opening for many national acts, including Prong, Burnt by the Sun, Hope Never Dies, Michael Graves of the Misfits, Overkill and Suicide City. They also reached number one on various downloadable music internet charts in the punk category. The band is currently performing steadily while working on new material for their fourth release. A collection of live video footage including their recent music videos endeavors are also in the works. Albums can be found at www.cdbaby.com/ifmanisfive |
