About FOUL CIRCLE

We are a Death Metal band from the capital area of Finland and we balance ourselves somewhere between technical, progressive and melodic metal. Foul Circle was started as Seppo’s solo project. After a long period of touring with Denigrate he was in the search of a new inspiration, a fresh approach in music, without any preconception or a weight from the past.

A group of old friends and talented musicians came together and Foul Circle formed. Seppo playing guitar, Pekka on Bass, Jarno pounding the drums. Last but not least, Teemu was summoned for the vocals. Then Teemu was still on a peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan and agreed to take the microphone after he had returned to Finland. His mission in Afghanistan took its toll and as a result, solid base for the lyrics was guaranteed.

The first promo was recorded with this assembly, in addition to Tea Dickman, who came along to play the keyboard fulfilling the rich audio environment of Foul Circle. She created the sounds by herself and with the use of theremin and was influence by the horror films from 1960´s to create more unique sounds.

Our music at this point was fast and technical metal and there was a need for a second guitarist, Ville aka “Ilves” was up to the task. He already had proven his skills in Stillburned and Am I Blood, besides he was the only member with tattoos. It is always a good idea to have someone with ink in a metal band.

Ilves departed ways in the end of 2010 because of personal reasons and Sauli Jokinen took over the guitar duties. For a while the band was speeding full on and wrecking some venues around Hellsinki. Band sounds great and the live performances are aggressive. The audience could sense from the start that there’s experience and talent on stage. But unfortunately, Tea had to leave the band and Janne Salminen replaced her early 2011. A little while from Tea, Sauli had to face the reality and announced his resign from the band. It took quite some time before new guitarist was found, but in the summer of 2012 Jouni Tuovinen joined as a guitarist!

Sadly, our dear friend Ilves, died in a motorcycle accident in the summer of 2013. He was a co-founder and original guitarist in the band and his Spirit will live in Foul Circle through music!
